Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this educational program is to provide nurses in acute care with current information about diabetes, including new developments and changes from previous practice standards.
  • Identify the main types of diabetes and recommendations for treatment.
  • Identify pre-diabetes and recommendations for treatment.
  • Describe the action profile and timing of administration of insulins.
    • Describe the action profile of oral and non-insulin injectable diabetes medications. Discuss the importance of glycemic control during hospitalization.
