Beginning January 1, 2014, all Registered Nurses (RN) renewing their licenses will be required to meet one of five options for renewal within the two years prior to the date of expiration of the license. One of the options is to verify the completion of at least twenty-four (24) contact hours of continuing education applicable to nursing practice. Because at least one of the five options must have been completed within the two years prior to the date of expiration of the license, RNs should begin their efforts to meet the continuing qualifications requirements twenty-four months prior to the expiration date of their licenses in 2014.
