Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to familiarize physicians, nurses, and EMS professionals with techniques for defibrillation in the pediatric population.
After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe the importance of early and rapid defibrillation for shockable rhythms in the pediatric population.
  • Recall the appropriate pediatric defibrillation shock dose and regimens, and at least two safety concerns regarding the use of AEDs in the pediatric population.
  • Explain the importance of the interprofessional team approach when performing pediatric defibrillation.
