Overview
The goal of this course is to provide nurses, providers, and social workers with information about telemedicine and needed expanded areas of utilization.Goals and Learning Outcomes
Telemedicine and telehealth are often interchangeable terms to describe remote exchanges between healthcare teams and patients. However, telehealth has a broader scope and reach than telemedicine, including the domains of administration, education, and public health (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services [HHS], 2019; Young et al., 2019). In this course, you will learn about the different types of virtual healthcare, but your learning focus will be on virtual visits via telemedicine. You will also learn about the different regulations and challenges, as well as current and expanded utilization needs for telemedicine.
- Review the types, regulations, and challenges of virtual healthcare.
- Recall some current utilization needs for telemedicine in acute inpatient and ambulatory settings.
- Identify expanded utilization needs for telemedicine.
