Goals and Learning Outcomes

Interdisciplinary integrated care teams are a highly effective way to provide healthcare to people with both behavioral health and medical health needs. Each person on the team has a different role but they work systematically and collaboratively to provide care based on a joint care plan. This course explores the roles and responsibilities of providers on an integrated care team, benefits of this type of care, and strategies for improving collaboration and client outcomes. The goal of this course is to provide education to addictions, behavioral health counseling, case/care management, non-licensed direct care, nursing, psychology, and social work professionals as well as physicians in health and human service settings about interdisciplinary integrated care teams.


After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall at least three ways that a collaborative, integrated care model improves healthcare service delivery.
  • Explain the primary responsibilities of the providers on integrated healthcare teams.
  • Identify at least three challenges with collaboration and strategies to address them.
