The goal of this course is to provide members of the healthcare team in acute care settings with knowledge about gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).Goals and Learning Outcomes
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of the most common GI complaints that healthcare providers encounter. Healthcare professionals play an important role in detecting early symptoms of GERD and helping patients manage the disease. This course describes GERD, its risk factors, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Identify two common causes of GERD.
- Identify the typical and atypical symptoms of GERD.
- Choose differences in the presentation of GERD in infancy and adulthood.
- List the current evidence-based interventions for GERD and their associated risks.
