Goals and Learning Outcomes

Achieving Magnet® accreditation is an organization’s symbol of nursing excellence. The journey toward Magnet® is lengthy and rigorous. Understanding and meeting the Magnet® requirements is quite challenging, but many resources are available to assist an organization. Once achieved, being a Magnet® organization has resulted in numerous benefits. Improved outcomes in Magnet® organizations continue to be supported in research. These outcomes benefit the nurse, the patient, and the organization.

The goal of this course is to inform nursing professionals in acute care with the process and benefits of achieving Magnet® designation.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • State the five components of the Magnet® model.
  • Review research-related outcomes of organizations with Magnet® designation.
