This course provides administrators and nursing professionals with knowledge of conducting an abuse investigation.Goals and Learning Outcomes
Preventing abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of residents is always a top priority for healthcare organizations. When an allegation of abuse has been made, an investigation must take place to determine whether the abuse has occurred and identify what steps can be taken to prevent further abuse. This course discusses the federal regulations related to abuse and neglect and the steps needed to conduct a thorough abuse investigation.
The goal of this course is to educate administrators and nurses in residential post-acute care settings about conducting abuse investigations.
- Recognize the types of abuse and the federal regulations related to assessing abuse and neglect.
- Recall the process for conducting an abuse investigation.
- Identify the follow-up actions to take after an allegation of abuse.
