Goals and Learning Outcomes

This course provides nursing professionals and physicians with a review of concussion recognition and care in the acute care setting. Topics covered include signs and symptoms of concussion and how to spot red flags that indicate severe injury. Diagnosis, treatment, and complications of concussion are also reviewed. Patient education for concussion care at home is included with details on when and how patients should seek extra care.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion and the red flags of a more severe head injury.
  • Identify how to diagnose and treat a concussion and complications from concussion.
  • Determine essential elements of patient education related to concussion management.
