The goal of this course is to inform nursing professionals with knowledge of ectopic pregnancy.

Ectopic pregnancy, in which the fertilized ovum implants outside of the endometrial lining of the uterus, remains a gynecological concern. Nurses practicing in private obstetric or public health clinics, EDs, and surgical suites often encounter patients with ectopic pregnancies. A comprehensive knowledge of the course and treatment of this condition can augment nurses’ participation in primary and secondary interventions.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify risk factors, signs, and symptoms related to ectopic pregnancy.
  • List three interventions for patients who have an ectopic pregnancy.
