Your continuing education records are only a few clicks away

My last day as an employee at OnCourse Learning, which publishes, was Dec. 15. I am moving out of state to start a new position after the holidays.

Moving is a lot of work. Not only does it mean a new home, but it can mean a new city and new employer. There are so many things to think about. Setting up utilities, getting kids into a new school, finding the new local coffee shop. It’s enough to make anyone on the move worry.

One thing I don’t have to worry about during my relocation is keeping track of my continuing education hours. We all know how important it is to keep track of those hours. Thanks to CE Direct, and OnCourse Learning’s online corporate education solution for nurses, physicians and more than 20 allied health professions, I have easy access to my continuing education transcripts.

This isn’t my first move, and like other moves, one thing I frequently overlooked is my continuing education records. I usually don’t think about this until it’s time to document CEs for my certification renewal. And guess what? My certification renewal is due in April. Talk about timing.

In years past, this meant I would start looking through emails and printed documents, files and folders for certificates I had stashed away during the last few years. This was not an organized process.

But as a CE Direct user, all the continuing education hours that I have completed are stored in electronic records, even if my new employer doesn’t use the service.

That is a great feature. Not only am I proud of the great nurse continuing education content development that I was privileged to oversee the last two years as vice president of CE programming for, but I also am excited that we were able to make life a little easier in some ways.

So, whether you are a user of our CE services through or CE Direct, a paid subscription via your employer, you have two options. First, if you are going to a new employer who also has CE Direct, then your records can be transferred over.

Second, if you have CE Direct, but are transferring to an employer who does not use this service, no problem. Just log in to your account as usual. You will receive a deactivation message with instructions on how to move your transcripts to a free account.

You will be offered a chance to purchase an Unlimited CE subscription at that time at a reduced rate. But you do not need to purchase anything to access your CE transcripts and certificates through your new account.

While I will miss my coworkers, I am excited as well about new challenges ahead. Luckily, finding my CE records will not be one of them. Whether you take continuing education modules on or via CE Direct, have peace of mind that your transcripts are always just a few clicks away. Digging through a box, file cabinet or hefty email inbox is no longer required.
