Robyn Flipse

RDN, MS, MA

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Robyn Flipse is the founder of Nutrition Communication Services, a business she established in 2001 to provide a fresh perspective to the rapidly expanding coverage of food, nutrition and diet news in the world today. She brings to the position over 25 years of experience as a counselor, teacher, writer and media spokesperson in addition to her credentials as a cultural anthropologist. Robyn graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in human nutrition and dietetics from Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey followed by a Master of Arts degree in cultural anthropology. Her areas of expertise include the science behind no and low calorie sweeteners and their impact on appetite and weight control, cultural forces shaping food selection and energy balance, and the role of functional foods in implementing the Dietary Guidelines. Robyn's expert opinions and commentary have been featured in national broadcasts on ABC-News, Dateline NBC and FOX News Channel and in publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today. She also has been able to reach millions of consumers with her adept messaging about new food products during her numerous media tours as a hired spokesperson. Visitors to the World Wide Web have a chance to follow Robyn as a blogger on her site, The Everyday RD and on the many guest posts she writes for other sites, including Splenda Living and The Skinny on Low Cal. She also maintains an active presence on twitter and other social media to bring sound nutrition information to the millions of people engaged in these platforms. Her first book, The Wedding Dress Diet, was published by Random House and released to rave reviews in 2000. The publication of her popular second book, Fighting the Freshman Fifteen, was in 2002 with Three Rivers Press. It opened the door to becoming the first Health & Fitness columnist, then blogger, on UniversityChic.com. In addition to maintaining a busy private practice in central New Jersey for over 20 years where she provided medical nutrition therapy to individuals and small groups, Robyn has served as a consultant to numerous food, beverage and pharmaceutical companies including Mars, Incorporated, McNeil Nutritionals, LLC and The Coca-Cola Company. She also devotes time to serve on the boards of various health care organizations and teach as an adjunct faculty member at area colleges.
