A nurse’s work environment is shaped much more than a single shift — it affects how well they care for patients and how content and fulfilled they are in their roles.
In a time when many nurses are rethinking their careers, supportive workplaces aren’t just appreciated, they’re indispensable. And the 2025 Top Workplaces for Nursing Award honors healthcare organizations doing it right. We’re proud to introduce this year’s winners — employers proving that better is possible.
The Top Workplaces for Nursing Award winners
Presented through a collaboration between Nurse.com and Energage, the Top Workplaces award is based on confidential employee survey feedback that reflects real experiences with leadership and work culture.
The following seven winners stand out for one powerful reason: They invest in nurses.
- Bloom Healthcare
- Perinatal Associates of New Mexico
- Northshore Rehabilitation Hospital
- Johns Hopkins Care at Home
- Ochsner Health System
- Adventist HealthCare
- Concerto Renal Services
“I’ve felt firsthand the impact workplace culture has in the nursing profession,” said Cara Lunsford, RN, Vice President of Community at Nurse.com, in a news release. “These winners are setting a new standard by investing in mental health resources, professional growth opportunities, and inclusive leadership. When nurses are supported, everyone benefits — from the teams they work on to the patients they care for.”
What nurses said about these workplaces
In the Top Workplaces survey, respondents praised their employers’ open communication, team support, and leadership that follows through.
Many shared that they feel valued for what they bring to the table. “I feel like I’m important and am part of the whole business on every level,” an employee said. “I am heard, and solutions are always being worked on. I’m not overloaded with work, and I am respected.”
Others described a positive work culture they hadn’t previously experienced. One wrote, “I have never felt appreciated as an employee like I do here. During my onboarding, they made me feel like a part of things right away and frequently checked in to see how I was doing. People genuinely seem to like working here, which is so refreshing.”
Others described feeling unlimited support. One respondent wrote, “From the beginning, I was steadfastly supported and encouraged. I have never felt embarrassed or incompetent when reaching out for advice or voicing my needs or concerns.”
Several celebrated the teamwork that leads to strong patient care. “I work with a dedicated team that supports each other. From management all the way to the newest nurse, we have such a strong team that keeps growing," said another respondent. "We are thriving, and our patients are receiving some of the best care I have ever had the privilege of providing and witnessing. I have never been more proud to work for a company than I am right now.”
According to the Nurse.com 2024 Nurse Salary and Work-Life Report, 17% of nurses say their work negatively affects their mental health, and nearly one in four nurses considers leaving the profession.
The survey comments describe workplaces more likely to depart from this reality — where communication is honest, leadership is engaged, and respect runs both ways. That kind of culture doesn’t just benefit staff — it creates the conditions for safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
These organizations incorporate everything from mentorship programs to flexible shifts to mental health resources to better support nurses. They encourage ongoing learning and career growth through training, education, and leadership opportunities. Most of all, they create environments where nurses know their voices matter and where they feel valued every day.
