Should I become a nurse or a chef?

Question:

Dear Donna,

My name is Josh Hodson and I am a 16-year-old high school student. I was wondering whether to become an ED nurse or a chef. I realize that there is a huge difference between the two jobs. I am really quick on my feet and can think under pressure. I can also multitask very well and want to help people. Cooking is a passion of mine; however, the more I look into nursing, the more I lean towards the profession.

Josh

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Josh,

How about making nursing your profession (endless career opportunities and a real opportunity to help people and contribute to the greater good) and then cook as a hobby? I don?t see why you have to choose between the two. I know many great cooks who are content to cook for their families and friends, throw dinner parties and even enter local cooking contests. And if you keep cooking as a hobby (rather than a job) it may help you to keep that passion alive.
