Melissa Frank, RN, was presented with the November DAISY Award at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Md. A nurse at the hospital for nine years, Frank was nominated for her compassion, kindness and empathy when she went above and beyond her normal duties to ensure a patient's daughter would be able to be with her mother during her final days. "Melissa's extraordinary kindness in this situation was profoundly moving and is a prime example of the level of care she delivers to all her patients, which makes her truly deserving of this DAISY Award," Stephanie Reid, RN, BSN, MBA, vice president of quality and CNO at Carroll Hospital Center, said in a news release. Carroll Hospital Center's DAISY Award was created to honor outstanding healthcare professionals at the hospital. It is given to a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse each month to recognize his or her extraordinary efforts in delivering exceptional patient care.
