How Do I Find Training or Information on Medical Chart Reviews for Remote Work-At-Home Jobs, and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set Training?

Nurses studying on the computer

Question:

Dear Donna,

I am an RN with 33 years of diverse experience who was let go from my job for financial reasons. How do I find training or information on medical chart reviews for remote work-at-home jobs, and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set training?

Wants Training

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Wants Training,

The insurance industry is one that offers a variety of home-based jobs for nurses. I would suggest you contact some companies in your area and talk to their nurse recruiter or someone in human resources.

Private companies, some of which will train you and offer home-based opportunities, also do HEDIS and other types of record review. Do an Internet search for "HEDIS review companies" and "medical record audit companies" to find some of them and contact them directly.

You also should attend local chapter meetings of related associations, such as the National Association of Healthcare Quality (www.nahq.org) and the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (www.hcpro.com/acdis). When there's something you want to do, it makes sense to rub elbows with those successfully doing it.

Best wishes,
Donna
