The World Health Organization’s declaration that 2020 is the Year of the Nurse and Midwife is a historic honor. It’s the first time the nursing profession has been included in the annual recognition. With this honor, the WHO is spreading the message that strengthening nursing and midwifery is crucial to improving health for all. And that has become crystal clear this year, as nurses have been on the front lines caring for patients of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. We celebrate you, nurses and midwives, for all you do.
