Position Summary
Summary:
The psychiatric nurse practitioner is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with psychiatric symptoms in the inpatient, outpatient and emergency departments. The psychiatric NP works in conjunction with the supervising psychiatrist to provide direct service, assessment and disposition decisions. The psychiatric NP utilizes best practice models of care and is up to date on psychopharmacology.

Responsibilities:
Education Required
• Must complete in-house orientation program
• Master's Degree from an Approved Nurse Practitioner's Program
• Registered Nurse Degree
Experience And Skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Speaks, reads and writes English
• Some experience in inpatient or outpatient behavioral health setting.
• In lieu of professional experience, internship or placement experience can be substituted.
License/Certifications
• ANCC Board Certification Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• NYS Nurse Practitioner License, NYS Registered Nurse License
• Mandated OMH documentation:
• Mandated reporter attestation
• Code of Conduct
