Description

I. Position Summary:

The CNC/OR Service Coordinator demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients. Each service also requires specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. The OR Service Coordinator may rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The OR Service Coordinator performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC. The OR Service Coordinator incorporates all of the RN position as above, and includes the additional responsibilities of directing shift operations with schedules, assignments and coordination of resources.

Qualifications::

II. Position Requirements:

A.      Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current Colorado Registered Nurse License and current BLS certification.

B.       Education:

Graduate of a certified School of Nursing.

C.      Experience:

Minimum of one year as staff nurse in related area of acute care nursing. Previous charge nurse/service coordinator experience preferred.

D.      Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrates good clinical skills and leadership qualities. Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Nursing Practice at SMC. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. The following when applicable:

1.       Demonstrated competence with patient care information systems including Meditech, and Microsoft Office programs.

2.       Strong planning, analytical and written skills.

3.       Basic understanding and ability to utilize the nursing process.

4.       Ability to utilize database, spreadsheet, word processing to conduct analysis of OR statistical reports.

5.       Ability to educate staff using adult learning principles.

6.       Ability to utilize database, spreadsheet, word processing to conduct analysis of OR statistical reports
