The Multi-Task Assistant will be able to perform the roles of Patient Care Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator. Role will be based on the needs of the unit.
In the role of PCA: The incumbent will perform direct patient care under the direction of the RN
- PCA will report data and changes in patient condition for a variety of cardiovascular problems (both medical and surgical patients)
- PCA will follow examples of safe patient interaction to complete assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner
In the role of HUC: The incumbent will perform clerical functions related to patient care for the cardiovascular service line
HUC will participate in a variety of unit responsibilities, for example
- Unit receptionist
- Maintain stock supplies
- Maintain the medical record
- Transcribe medical orders
Required Job Qualifications Include:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider
- Current certification as a CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant or Current nursing student who has completed 2 semesters of clinical rotations with an accredited school of nursing.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
