Job Description:

Currently seeking an experienced Acute Care NPto join the Hospitalist team in the

Department of Medicine at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

 

This exciting Nurse Practitioner opportunity will be to assist with the Emergency Department Consult Service in the Department of Medicine at Inova Fairfax Hospital.Our midlevel providers consistently comment on the quality of physician supervision, as well as the supportive and collaborative environment in the department.

 

The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner provides safe and therapeutic care in holistic and systemic ways to include the assessment and overall management of care for critically ill patients under the supervision of an MD. Job expectations include:

  • Exercising independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the nurse practitioner licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for Nurse Practitioner.  
  • Communicating effectively and working collaboratively with others.
  • Demonstrating respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines, and using an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.  
  • Utilizing evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery.
  • Incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice.  
  • Ensuring improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning.
  • Providing direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving.

Job & Education Requirements:

3-5 years of clinical nursing experience as an RN. Acute Care NP experience preferred.

BSN and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners . 

 

 

Nurse Practitioners must have must have an RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Prescriptive Authority for Licensed Nurse Practitioners Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Prescriptive Authority License" AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).
