Position Specifications
Staff Nurse Per Diem - ECT

This is a regular, hourly, 8 hour, day shift position, per diem.  There is no guarantee of hours worked. This position is not eligible for benefits.

This position is being reserved for individuals who have been displaced due to departmental closures or restructures.  Employees who apply but who have not been displaced will not be contacted about the position.  When that process is complete, if the position has not been filled, this message will be removed and regular recruitment will commence.

Scale begins at $26.97 per hour.  Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience. 

Premiums: Evening - $2.75/hr, Night - $3.75/hr, Weekend - $4.00/hr
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care adapted to individual patient needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  Responsible for delegation and supervision of personnel who participate in the provision of care, when in the Charge role, to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met.

The ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) registered nurse (RN) assumes leadership, responsibility and accountability for designated patients in the pre-procedure, treatment, and post-procedure/post-anesthesia care area within the ECT treatment program.  Nurses are cross-trained to provide care to the patient in each stage of the treatment process.
The registered nurse is responsible for managing the care of patients experiencing psychiatric and mental health disorders including substance abuse and addiction.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.  Current BLS and ACLS Certification.

Minimum of one year post-anesthesia patient care or procedural sedation recovery care or emergency medical nursing care.

Preferred: Minimum of one year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting. Knowledge of psychotropic medications, psychiatric conditions and general treatment.

Ability to operate, or learn to operate, unit-specific equipment as outlined in defined competencies.  Working knowledge of cardiac monitors and defibrillators and other related medical devices. Adequate knowledge to perform assessments, plan patient care, provide direct care, and educate and orient families and staff.  Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses and ancillary staff.  Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.  Ability to complete mathematical calculation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, equivalencies).  Must have knowledge of human growth and development to modify services to the age and development stage of the patient.
