Position Summary: The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of nursing care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the appropriate delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team. Will be responsible for outside supervision of patients, may need to intervene in preventing elopement, physical altercations, etc. The professional nurse must be able to utilize crisis intervention techniques to prevent restraints as much as possible. Education: Associate's Degree (minimum) Experience: minimum of 1 year psychiatric inpatient experience, experience leading/ co-leading groups License or certification required: New Jersey State Current RN License (can apply) CPR ANCC Required knowledge and skills: Ability to successfully complete the initial competency assessment for the clinical area. Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking skills and priority setting skills. Ability to take charge of the unit and make the necessary changes to daily assignment sheets to meet the needs of the patients. Ability to delegate tasks and ensure that all shift work is complete on time. Preferred knowledge and skills: Ability to accurately perform diversified duties within time limitations. Psychiatric nursing experience. Ability to manage aggressive patients. Experience with the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans and the involuntary court commitment process.
