Position Description In conjunction with the nurse manager, assumes responsibility for the care of patients on the unit. In the absence of the nurse manager, assumes ultimate 24-hour responsibility for the care of patients on the unit. Directs and administers the nursing care provided on the nursing unit. Supervises, evaluates, guides, and counsels nursing staff in their work performance. Ensures that staffing patterns provide optimal delivery of nursing service. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice and principles, methods and techniques involved in providing nursing care, familiarity with organization and function of departments, policies, procedures and regulations and knowledge of principles of leadership and management. Delivery of patient care is individualized relative to age/developmental, psycho-socio-cultural patient treatment needs.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Two years professional nursing experience in relevant clinical area required. Management experience preferred. Must have current licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse. BCLS required. ACLS required.
