The Hospice Aide is responsible for the delivery of aspects of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Care needs and visit frequency are indicated in the Hospice Aide Plan of Care. This position serves patients in our Gilchrist facility located in Towson, Maryland. This position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday 11:00 pm to 7:30 am with rotating weekends.

All Hospice Aides are required to have documented completion of a formal CNA training program at an accredited institution and to meet the training requirements of the State. Must also satisfactorily pass Hospice Aide testing as provided by agency.

At least two years of continuous recent experience in an acute care or home care setting. Hospice experience preferred, but not required.

· Knowledge and understanding of the Hospice Philosophy.

· Skill in oral and written communication .

· Skill in managing issues related to death/dying .

· Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with facility staff when necessary.

· Skill with hand-held communication devices and electronic documentation.

· Ability to demonstrate empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.

· Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
