Clinical Nurse Specialist MSN - Post Parturm - Clinical Education and Practice

This is a full time exempt position at our First Hill Campus in Seattle. This position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, generous 401(k) plan, commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.

Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing.  The primary roles of the Clinical Nurse Specialist include: practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher.  Within each role the Clinical Nurse Specialist uses problem solving strategies and the nursing process to improve outcomes.  S/he works collaboratively with the staff and managers to develop criteria for patient care, assess health needs of patients, and evaluate outcomes of nursing interventions.  The time spent in each of the role components varies with patient population, unit and department needs and organizational priorities.
Qualifications
Masters degree in Nursing with clinical focus from an accredited school of nursing, required.

Licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Washington, required.  Certification in specialty preferred. Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

Three years current nursing experience in related clinical area, required.  Must demonstrate competency to safely and accurately operate a computer (Windows, MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer). Language skills -- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.  Ability to communicate effectively with staff of all job categories.  Reasoning ability -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Knowledge of human growth and development to modify services to the age and developmental stage of the patient.  Mathematical skills -- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
