An exciting position at Thomas Jefferson University as a Nurse Practitioner is available in the department of Neurological Surgery. Primary functions include: Continuously work in direct communication with patients, physicians, staff, pharmacists, radiology and various other departments within the health system in order to coordinate patient care; Directly assist physicians in performing the following duties: telephone triage, medication dispensing, obtaining specimens for laboratory analysis, scheduling and preparing patients for diagnostic tests, preparing the patient and facility for procedures, collecting information relevant to the patient¿s care, and contacting other departments to ensure interdisciplinary collaboration, Provide followup for neuro inpatient consults; Provide patient advocacy in ensuring adequate patient care; Maintain yearly certification in CPR; Provide nursing care based on the documented consistent assessment of each patient¿s unique needs ¿ in an ongoing process; Analyze data collected as basis for planned nursing interventions and meeting the educational needs of the patient; and Medicate patients as prescribed by the physician.
