Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Nurse Practitioner (Job Number 20876)

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive patient care and consultation to children and their families with palliative care needs. Conducts comprehensive assessments of children with life-threatening conditions and their families and establishes and coordinates the Individualized Care Plan (ICP). Serves as a member of the Palliative and End-of-Life Care Program and collaborates with the primary interdisciplinary care team to promote care with the goal to attend to suffering and improve the quality of life of seriously ill children and their families. Teaches palliative and end-of-life care to the primary care team and represents St. Jude Palliative and End-of-Life Care Program in clinical meetings, institutional committees and national groups.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, On Call: 1 out of every 3 days (phone coverage)

Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) required.

    Experience Requirements:
  • Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Experience must include the assessment of health and psychosocial needs involving complex medical illnesses, providing care coordination, skilled nursing services and making community referrals.
  • Experience in pediatric palliative and end-of-life care required.
  • Board certification in palliative care preferred.
  • Two (2) years of program development and education experience preferred.

    Licensure Requirements:
  • Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the TN State Board of Nursing.
  • Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
  • Supervising Physician: verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department.
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification: American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Certificate of Fitness: State of Tennessee - Division of Health Related Boards.
  • DEA certification: U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration.
