Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Senior Research Technologist (Job Number 20565) in the Developmental Neurobiology Department .

The Senior Research Technologist in the Developmental Neurobiology Department operates as an advanced-level research technologist by assisting the Principal Investigator with the data collection and analysis for research projects. Our laboratory focus is the function of the primary cilium in brain development and cancer. Primary cilium has dual opposing roles in cancer ; depending on the underlying oncogenic event , primary cilia can either promote or prevent tumor formation. Specifically, our long-term research goals are to understand the multifaceted roles of primary cilia in development and disease and to uncover the molecular basis of their function. To achieve this, our research is currently directed toward understanding the molecular mechanism of ciliary function in Hedgehog (Hh) signaling and tumorigenesis. The Senior Research Technologist properly conducts specific projects, maintains efficient laboratory operations, may assist in training other laboratory personnel, and performs other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field and three (3) years (post-degree) of relevant and productive work experience is required OR
  • A Master's degree in an appropriate scientific field and two (2) years (post-degree) of relevant and productive work experience is required OR
  • A PhD in an appropriate scientific field with no additional experience is required.

    Preferred skills:
    • *Experience working with in vivo models, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology (genotyping, molecular cloning) and biochemistry techniques is preferred.
