Position Specifications
Staff  Nurse - Critical Care Float Pool

Swedish Medical Center is seeking an experienced critical care nurse to join the float pool at Cherry Hill campus.  The ideal candidate will have at least two years experience caring for high acuity patients on a critical care floor, including working knowledge of multiple lines, drips, catheters, trach care, and ventilators.   The selected candidate will enjoy a supportive team nursing atmosphere, where they have the opportunity to exercise their technical skills and focus on quality patient outcomes in a variety of units, including the ICUs, ED, Telemetry, and Stat team.  This is the ideal environment for a skilled and confident nurse to continue to expand their practice and positively impact patient care in several units. 

This is a regular, hourly, 12 hour, night shift position, 0.9 FTE, 72 hours bi-weeky. This position is eligible for our full suite of employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, generous 401(k) plan, commuter programs, and continuing education assistance.

Salary scale:  Scale begins at $26.97 per hour.  Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience. 

Premiums: Evening - $2.75/hr, Night - $3.75/hr, Weekend - $4.00/hr
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care adapted to individual patient needs based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  He or she is also responsible for delegation and supervision of personnel, as states above, that participate in the provision of care to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program.

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.  Current BLS Certification.  Current ACLS Certification.

Experience acquired from Accredited Registered School of Nursing.  Two years current inpatient medical surgical nursing experience required.  Will be oriented to appropriate departments.

(Specialty areas may require additional experience.) 

Ability to operate, or learn to operate, unit-specific equipment as outlined in defined competencies.  Adequate knowledge to perform assessments, plan patient care, provide direct care, and educate and orient families and staff.  Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.  Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.  Ability to complete mathematical calculation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, equivalencies).  Must have knowledge of human growth and development to modify services to the age and development stage of the patient.
