Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Senior Research Technologist (Job Number 20566) in the Radiological Sciences Department .

The Senior Research Technologist in the Radiological Sciences Department will work on the production of known radiopharmaceuticals for Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Duties include synthesis of analytical standards and radiochemistry precursors, and radiolabeling with short half-life positron emitting radionuclides. The Senior Research Technologist will also assist the principal investigator with the data collection and analysis for research projects. The technologist properly conducts specific projects, maintains efficient laboratory operations and may assist in training other laboratory personnel. Performs other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field and three (3) years (post-degree) of relevant and productive work experience is required OR
  • A Master's degree in an appropriate scientific field and two (2) years (post-degree) of relevant and productive work experience is required OR
  • A PhD in an appropriate scientific field with no additional experience is required.

    Preferred skills:
    • Background in medicinal, organic and radiochemistry is preferred. Experience performing multi-step organic synthesis, interpreting analytical data (NMR, MS, IR, UV), micro-scale reactions, and chromatographic separation methods (HPLC, GC, TLC) is highly desired. Experience troubleshooting complex automated systems and performing routine maintenance on small laboratory equipment is a plus.
