· Since 1987, the Washington Hospital Center 's Division of Nursing has been providing RN Residency Programs that have been the foundation for new graduate and RN training. All training programs are run by experienced clinical educators who oversee both the classroom and clinical orientation components. RN Residency programs are designed for new grads and RN's who want to transition into a new specialty area. All Residency Programs include: Classroom instruction tailored to clinical area, focused case study approach to learning, extensive preceptorship, dedicated nurse educator for each specialty area, and new hire support/mentorship.
The Cardiac Services Residency Program offers opportunities to work in one of the following units: Cardiac Surgery Stepdown, Medical Cardiology, Vascular Stepdown .
The next RN Residency Program begins February 16, 2010.
Requirements: Must have current CPR certification and RN license. New grad RNs must have taken their NCLEX and passed before the start of the program on February 16, 2010. It is recommended to sit for a DC RN license when you register to take your boards.
If selected to come in for an interview, new grads must bring their current CPR card, two letters of recommendation from clinical instructors or preceptors on official letterhead and official transcripts.
