Position Summary:
Provides direct and/or indirect, safe and effective professional nursing care. Assumes responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluating health care needs of all patients assigned. Provides nursing care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric.

Special Abilities
Must have management and teaching ability. Must be able to effectively motivate and supervise others. Must be able to utilize initiative and independent action when required within the general framework of professional assignment. Must be able to utilize good judgment in evaluating alternatives in unorthodox situations. Must be able to work with the realization that errors in receiving and transcribing orders, giving medications, treatments, or performing other procedures or performing supervisory duties could have detrimental effects to the patients. Must have good verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with physicians, patients and family members. Must be able to work accurately under stress and emergency situations. Must act as a role model and resource person to personnel. Discretion required in handling confidential information. Must be able to work irregular schedules, weekends, and holidays due to staffing and census fluctuations. Must be able to assume role of Charge Nurse in his/her absence or in emergency situations.


Qualifications
Position Education/Qualifications:
1.       Current RN license in the State of Georgia
2.       Knowledge of general nursing theories and practice
3.       Successful completion of nursing service orientation program
4.       Attends IV Therapy training and demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy within 90 days
5.       Attends ARW and completes yearly competency checklists for specific department
6.       Maintains competency and/or certification specific to departmental requirements: CPR
