POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Administrator of the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center the Clinical Director of the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center is directly responsible for all clinical operations that drive the growth and support the vision of the Disney Family Cancer Center. This position provides clinical expertise, leadership, and programmatic oversight for all clinical operations within the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center. The Director provides leadership and supervision to assure programs, patient care, productivity and all general operations contribute to cooperative, efficient management efforts and operations with a focus on quality, satisfaction and service improvement. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: The following are essential job accountabilities: 1. Demonstrates Providence Health System – San Fernando Valley Service Area's core values of respect, justice, compassion, stewardship, and excellence to customers, employees, visitors; and provides quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties. (2) 2. Collaborates with leadership in the development and implementation of specific operational objectives to provide cutting edge patient focused clinical care. (1) 3. Establishes and facilitates relationships with primary care physicians, physician organizations, oncologists, radiation oncologist surgeons, and other physicians and departments to help assure clinical needs and program objectives are being met within the community for specific patient populations. (1) 4. Oversees all aspects of the DFCC Clinical operations and patient care activities on a daily basis. (1) 5. Develops and maintains strong collaborative relationships with the Administrator, Medical Directors, Service Line Director and Hospital Administration. (1) 6. Demonstrates the ability to work independently in all aspects of oncology care and clinical supervision. (1) 7. Reviews potential program development opportunities with Administration to evaluate for clinical and operational requirements and feasibility. (1) 8. Responsible for quality assurance and compliance. (1) 9. Develops and implements department policies and procedures, Improving Organizational Performance standards, and patient/customer safety standards. (1,2) 10. Understands and assures current regulatory compliance a in all areas of clinical activities in the Disney Family Cancer Center. (1) 11. Acts as a resource for department personnel, physicians, patients and their families. (1) 12. Manages/ supervises the departmental staff including performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, assigning work and approving time off. (1) 13. Develops metrics to determine appropriate staff workloads and staff mix. (1) 14. Appropriately handles hiring, promotions, demotions, and terminations of staff. (1) 15. Works with Service Area Director to develop department budgets and to manage departmental expenditures compared to the budget to ensure cost effective administration within the hospital fiscal policy. (1) 16. Utilizes resources available to report and track utilization and outcomes for areas of responsibility as compared with regional, state and national data. (1) 17. Identifies best practices and facilitates implementation and benchmarking of key success factors. (1) 18. Develops and implements operating policies and procedures for the department. (1) 19. Works collaboratively with leadership to accomplish all necessary departmental and organizational objectives and projects including developing and initiating work standards and the creating and implementing appropriate educational programs. (1) 20. Makes recommendations for capital purchases and is responsible for related processes. (1) 21. Demonstrates personal accountability. (1) 22. Maintains and shares knowledge of clinical/managerial practice, issues, trends and technology. (1) 23. Participates in and provides leadership for meetings, task forces and committees. (1) 24. Identifies areas of programmatic deficit and proposes solutions to the appropriate parties. (1) 25. Completes mandatory requirements: CPR, Fire/Safety, Blood Borne Pathogens, Safety Medical Devices, TB, Utilities Management Failure, Health and Safety Plan, Falls Prevention, and assures staff compliance. (1) 26. Performs job in cost effective manner. (1) 27. Maintains work and work environment in a clean, neat and organized fashion. (1) 28. Identifies and develops plan to promptly resolve conflicts within the work area. (1) 29. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. (1) 30. Provides ongoing education to Physicians and staff regarding changes in oncology care, regulatory requirements, and/or documentation. (1) 31. Identifies, opportunities for performance improvement and/or process to increase patient/employee/physician satisfaction and financial effectiveness. (1) 32. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education Required Baccalaureate degree, Graduate of an RN educational program required; Education Preferred Master’s degree in nursing or administration. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current, valid Registered Nurse License in California. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Oncology business practice/clinical experience; Oncology nursing practice; Leadership experience. Previous supervisory/managerial experience; Strong working knowledge of principles of both medical and radiation oncology; Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance guidelines related to outpatient cancer care. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Sound clinical knowledge /practice; Strong leadership skills and the ability to form and motivates teams; Demonstrates knowledge of, oncology related care and services; Demonstrates evidence of successful managerial experience; Outstanding patient assessment and patient interview skills; Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Excellent interpersonal skills; Good physical stamina to meet the demands made by patients, physicians, families, staff; Supportive and cooperative attitude; Ability to manage detail, assure accuracy and produce results; Demonstrates creativity and ability to guide others through change and to new levels of understanding.
