The Infection Preventionist Clinician will provide assistance with infection control duties and infection surveillance to assist the Infection Control nurse with additional coverage needs. S/he will not be responsible for program development but for carrying out the requirements of the program, assisting staff, and helping with chart review. 1. Performs infection control surveillance and investigation activities including monitoring and chart review. · Routine surveillance is performed according to set schedule · Conducts investigations of suspected problem areas in a timely manner. · Prepares and presents recommendations based on analysis of collected data and evidence to Infection Preventionist Coordinator. · Implements plan of action approved by Infection Preventionist Coordinator and Medical Director. · Keeps infection control data base current. · Follows up on positive cultures for Emergency Department and other patients as needed. 2. Assists in the delivery of educational programs for medical, nursing, allied health, and administrative departments in the area of infection control. · Makes suggestions/recommendations to communication plans, or education as a result of analysis of health department communications. · Programs are consistent with current applicable standards and regulations. · Programs are provided during employee orientation and annually for all staff. · Exhibits basic competencies in teaching. 3. Acts as hospital liaison, collaborating with other health care professionals regarding infection control. · Works in conjunction with Employee Health Department. · Provides statistics and clinical findings as requested by State ofArizona. · Provides and receives information for State and county health departments. · Participates in local infection control professional organization. · Reviews current infection control literature. 4. Assists with the updating of written standards, policies and procedures related to infection control. Qualifications: · 5 or more years in hospital or clinical field · Associates Degree in Nursing (A.D.N.) or · Bachelor's degree in clinical or health related field (Respiratory Therapy/RRT/CRT; Medical Technology/Registered or Certified) or · Masters Degree in Public Health/Epidemiology If qualified with A.D.N.: Verified currentArizonaor other compact state RN license If qualified with Bachelor's degree: 1. Register Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or 2. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or 3. Med Tech-Registered or 4. Med Tech Certified |
