The Director assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for nursing care in the areas of responsibility.  The position requires knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, leadership in administration, principles of effective teaching and learning, fiscal management, and effective interpersonal relationships and communication.  Knowledge, understanding, acceptance, and support of the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the nursing service and the institution as a whole are essential.  Provides  leadership and support to the units' nurse managers using creative leadership to ensure best outcomes in high quality compassionate patient care. The director works with medical staff and other health care professionals collaboratively.
 
The Director of Critical Care Nursing is responsible for all Intensive Care Units consisting of a total of 46 beds plus 8 overflow and 120 FTE.
 
 
Qualifications
 

A. Licensure/Certifications:

1. Valid State RN license.
2. CCRN Certification preferred.

 
B. Education:

1. BSN
2. Masters Degree prefered.  MSN preferred.

C. Experience:

1. Minimum 5 years recent experience in Critical Care/Management.
2. Director level ICU experience required.
3. Experience with Open Heart patients a plus.
