GENERAL SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse provides safe and effective nursing care to all patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.   The Registered Nurse administers and performs specialized nursing care according to assigned unit and treatment for patient. Specialized nursing care utilizes evidence-based practice in accordance with professional standards. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering said patient care. Performs charge duties as assigned.


REGISTERED NURSE PRINCIPLE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES                                                      
    - Uses developmental needs to access patients throughout the peri-operative process.
    - Identifies problems and implements appropriate interventions.               
    - Assesses pain level prior to surgery using pain scales outlined in policy.
    - Maintains security of medication carts and medications needed for cases.
    - Follows policy regarding labeling of drugs placed on field
    - Adheres to hospital P and P related to blood and blood products administration.
    - All charges and OR records are complete and accurate
    - Observes, collects and accurately records data utilizing the nursing process.
    - Sets priorities for care of patients based on acuity and patient preference.
    - Controls patient flow and ensures timely delivery of care and room turn over.
    - Ensures reprocessing is supported and encouraged when appropriate                                                
    - Interacts in collaboration with physician
    - Demonstrates ability to lead and supervise surgical technicians, orderlies.
    - Explains procedures and interventions and documents interactions.
    - Participates in annual skills fair and reads the flash consistently to keep informed.
    - Provides adequate information and instructions

Qualifications
RN - OPERATING ROOM

Minimum Requirements
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
FL State Nursing License
ASN required / BSN preferred
BLS and ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Requirements
2 to 3 years of recent previous RN experience working in a hospital OR setting.
