    - Assumes leadership role and delegates nursing care and tasks to appropriate staff within scope of licensure/certification.
    - Assists Director in the overall functioning of the unit.
    - Assists with daily clinical/service rounds on all patients with focus on patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
    - Is capable of maintaining clear and direct communication with Director and staff.
    - Foster open communication in groups and meetings.
    - Operates shift according to matrix and budget with attention to daily productivity, sitter hours, and registry.
    - Effectively manages variances.
    - Collaborates with other units to expedite admissions through attendance of daily bed meeting.
    - Facilitates admission/discharge process.
    - Provides direction and assistance in emergency situations.
    - Provides feedback to Director/Clinical Coordinator regarding staff performance.
    - Identifies and documents need for staff counseling.
    - Assures patient care is provided within JCAHO, DHS, and legal aspects of nursing.
    - Serves as a role model and mentor to staff while reflecting mission statement, vision, and values of the organization.
    - Assists in orientation process and/or services as a preceptor for staff orienting to change role.
    - Participates in patient quality assurance programs.
    - Acts as a resource to staff and physicians.
    - Identifies education needs of unit staff and provides in-services accordingly.
    - Updates skills and knowledge with emphasis on leadership and clinical skills by attending in-services, workshops, etc.
    - Actively participates in required meetings through regular attendance and communication of information to unit.
    - Meets unit based clinical competencies.

Qualifications
    - Minimum Education: Knowledge and education necessary to obtain R.N. license in the State of California and current California R.N. License. Current American Heart Association B.L.S. certification.ACLS, BSN is preferred and strongly recommended.
    - Minimum Experience: 3 years recent acute care experience. Clinical II RN with a supervisory experience. Completion of charge nurse class, charge nurse checklist and charge nurse competency. Completion of preceptor class.
    - Preferred Skills and Abilities: Includes knowledge and proficiency in computer including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Optilink System.
