Under general supervision, assumes responsibility for the nursing management and evaluation of care provided to patients who participate in the practice of breastfeeding. Functions as a primary care provider in collaboration with physicians and other health team members. Plans, implements and evaluates educational programs related to breast feeding.

Education	RN
Experience	2 years full-time (or equivalent) directly related clinical experience
Skills	§ Knowledge of techniques and the application of lactation theory. § Skill in written and oral communication § Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications § Ability to instruct and support patients § Ability to assess patients, plan effective interventions and evaluate outcomes from those interventions.
Licensures, Certifications	§ Current registration with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse. § IBLCE Certification preferred. § Completion of "Healthcare Provider" CPR course, per hospital requirements.
