Job Summary:The Clinical Nurse Specialist provides education, consultation, and direct expert clinical care to support consistent, evidence-based, outcome-focused, culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate care for telemetry patients. Experience with oncology patients as well is preferable.
Requirements:-Must possess a BSN.
-Masters of Science in Nursing or currently matriculated into an accredited MSN program.
-Current RN Licensure in the State of Maryland.
-Three (3) years current clinical experience in select clinical area.
-Specialty Certification within 2 years of hire.
-Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, expert knowledge of adult learning principles, expert knowledge of human growth & development, expert knowledge of anatomy, physiology & pathophysiology.
-Must be able to perform:
-Age specific care for the group(s)
relevant to area of specialty served
expert patient assessment expert
clinical problem solving expert care
for complex patients conflict management
educational assessment instructional design
clinical material.
-Must be able to type 30 words per minute
-Must be computer literate or learn within 6 months.
-Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
-Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
-Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
-Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
-Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
-Must be flexible with work schedule to accommodate the educational and operational needs of the patient care units served and the PCS Division as a whole.
