I. Position Summary: The Charge Nurse demonstrates the ability to adapt coverage/staffing for cases. Instructs and direct the Endoscopy staff and coordinates the schedule to ensure that the necessary staff, equipment and supplies are available and prepared for each patient. The CNC-Charge Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care at RMC. The CNC Charge Nurse provides positive support for the values and mission of RMC. The Team Leader provides patient care, supports the unit members through meetings, discussion with managers and conflict management.

II. Position Requirements:

A.   Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Colorado Registered Nurse License, current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. Specialty certification is desirable.

B. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

C. Experience: 2 years minimum experience as staff nurse in PACU. 1 year supervisory/management experience preferred.

D. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Nursing Practice at RMC and the appropriate Specialty Standards and Recommended Practices. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.

III. Degree of Supervision Required: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the Director of Surgical Services.

IV. Orientation Period: Minimum of 2 weeks contingent upon experience. Extensive orientation may be required and will be determined by the Nurse Manager.
