We have received a grant from CMS to explore new ways to improve Sepsis management and outcomes, and to reduce the rate of CLABSI in the intensive care environment. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Coordinator with QI experience to work on these and other related projects in Critical Care.
Your role is vital to this initiative as we will look to you to become part of a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for implementing new process measures and improving the outcomes of patients with severe Sepsis. You will also be responsible for implementing quality improvement measures in critical care related to infection control management. Working alongside a team of physicians, residents in training, nurses, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists, you will coordinate QI projects; develop patient safety measures; and oversee data management to make sure that processes are implemented appropriately. A significant portion of your responsibilities will also be geared towards collaboration with nurse educators in the assessment of learning needs for staff as it relates to quality and performance improvement, and assisting with providing education, training and mentoring in rapid cycle and continuous quality improvement. As such, you will have the opportunity to work with the latest technology in medical simulation.
Qualifications for this cutting-edge position include:
· A BS in a health related field (BSN preferred)
· An MSN (or related) preferred or in progress
· At least five years of recent clinical experience in acute care nursing with demonstrated leadership skills
· Current NYS RN licensure
· Certificate in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
· Knowledge of current quality/performance improvement standards
· Data management experience preferred, with an emphasis on data collection, tabulation and aggregation
· Ability to use a personal computer preferably with proficiencies in Word and Excel
