About the Opportunity

An advanced care center located in the White Plains, NY area is seeking a skilled, experienced, and bright Nurse Practitioner to work in the Adult Heart Transplant unit as well as act as the VAD Coordinator. The NP who fills this role will be primarily responsible for participating in the overall heart transplant process in collaboration with a physician and other nurse administrators. This is an excellent opportunity with one of the area's best care centers.

Job Description

As the Nurse Practitioner you will be responsible for participating in the overall heart transplant process. As a result, a large part of this job will involve being on-call, making it very important for you to live only 30-40 minutes away from the center. Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in pre-transplant evaluations of patients
  • Preparing listing information
  • Accompanying the physician in organ recovery
  • Coordinating care pre and post-transplant surgery
  • Maintaining the tiedi database
  • Participating in patient care pre and post VAD surgery
  • Maintaining destination certification
  • Maintaining various databases related to surgically implanted VADs (INTERMACS, etc.)
Required Skills
  • At least 2 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in Cardiology/Cardiothoracic Critical Care
  • Experience with VAD
  • AANP certification
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment  
Desired Skills
  • Heart Transplant/Failure experience
