About the Opportunity

A nonprofit organization is currently seeking an experienced RN to join their staff as a Home Health Aide Instructor. The nursing professional selected for this role will be responsible for conducting training, in-services and competency evaluation programs for Home Care paraprofessionals in accordance with applicable Federal, State, City and Local rules, regulations, agency policies and procedures.

Job Description

The Home Health Aide Instructor is responsible for:

  • Promoting and maintaining a training program that is in compliance with all governmental and contractual regulations and meeting the agency's established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety standards
  • Formulating teaching outline and determining instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops
  • Selecting or developing teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works
  • Conducting training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on the job training, apprenticeship programs, health and safety practices, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, and leadership development
  • Ensuring that Home Care paraprofessionals are sufficiently knowledgeable and clinically competent to meet certification standards set forth by New York State Department of Health and/or Department of Social Services
  • Monitoring quality of care delivered by paraprofessionals through home visits
  • Making field visits to observe trainees performance and assessing trainee competency
  • Assessing competency of Home Care Division Aides in home through home visits and in a laboratory setting using established protocol
  • Assuring documentation forms are accurate, complete, legible and submitted in a timely manner
  • Supervising training assistants
Required Skills
  • 3+ years of experience educating or training HHAs
  • RN license
  • Degree in related field
  • Licensed home care experience (LCHSA)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
