The Med-Surg RN is responsible for: - Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner facilitating quality patient care and med/surg intervention in a safe and environment
- Collecting data from patient, family, lab and other medical reports
- Completing nursing assessment of the patient/family (biological, psychological, age appropriate developmental, environmental, cultural and spiritual)
- Coordinating, analyzing and reviewing surgical procedures
- Determining patient needs and priorities for care
- Developing a plan of care based upon the nursing assessment
- Facilitating the coordination of the surgical team
- Determining which standard of care and practice apply to the patient
- Evaluating and documenting patient responses to care provided and ensuring the patient's progress towards meeting desired outcomes
- Educating patients and families
- Demonstrating commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and customer service skills
- Managing time and resources in a cost effective manner
- Maintaining professional development and participate in development of others
