The emergency center at BTGH treats over 100,000 patients per calendar year, and 80% of hospital admissions arrive through the Emergency Center. Emergency services consist of the adult emergency center, pediatric emergency center and the world renowned Ginni and Richard Mithoff Trauma center. The center has 110 treatment areas and is known to be one of the busiest emergency centers in the United States.

The center has separate triage, registration and waiting rooms and sees about 13,000 patients per year. In addition, The Ben Taub Emergency Center is the only emergency center in the Houston area that provides psychiatric services in the emergency center. Nursing leadership in the emergency center strongly supports professional nursing practice and empowers nurses to provide safe, effective, compassionate and efficient nursing care in collaboration with all disciplines. Nurses are encouraged and incentivized to pursue professional certifications and continuing education.

The Nurse Clinician II (NCII) has knowledge and skills necessary to meet standards for professional practice specified in Texas Nursing Practice Act and by HCHD Nursing Service. The practice patterns of competent generalists are characterized by the application of standards, principles, and algorithms to clinical situations. The NCII independently and safely manages patients with problems common to patients in his/her assigned clinical area; recognizes when he/she needs assistance and seeks appropriate resources.Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas.

One (1) year full time experience - Nursing. Must be adequate to meet the following communication requirements: Accurately interprets and transmits clinical information in English, both verbally and in written form; and Sends and receives messages patients/families/SOs can comprehend.
