Responsibilities

The Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is hiring for a Cardiovascular Clinical Research Nurse.   Working under the leadership of the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator and in collaboration with the Principal Investigators, the research nurse will participate in all phases of clinical trials to evaluate new treatment therapies and medical devices.  Research areas within Cardiovascular may include heart failure, electrophysiology, interventional, cardiovascular surgery, vascular and women's heart.   Areas of responsibility include:
 
- participating in several clinical trials in various stages to assure compliance to study p rotocols,
- working with the IRB and study sponsors to ensure IRB approval,
- recruiting and screening potential study participants,
- providing education to patients and families about the trial and being the conduit between the patient and the research team,
- performing patient evaluations and providing nursing support for diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures, as determined by study protocol, with ethical treatment of subjects,
 - collecting and managing study data.

This position allows for both taking care of patients while also contributing to the important area of scientific knowledge.

Responsibilities

BSN and CT RN license required.  1-3 years experience in the coordination of multi-centered research projects.  Clinical research experience in cardiology and/or cardiac nursing experience preferred.

Must be able to evaluate and analyze clinical trials.  Must be able to effectively input and manipulate computer data, word processing and spread sheets.  Must be able to understand and determine clinical trial criteria for enrollment.
