Centra: Women's Health division is seeking a qualified candidate for Lactation Nurse Consultant.
This candidate must be a Registered Nurse, licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia.
Must be international Board Certified lactation Consultant with current certification.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with breastfeeding families and working in a Mother/Infant hospital based care setting.
This position works primarily Monday-Friday, with some weekends and occasional evening classes.
The Lactation Consultant Nurse will provide expert care in the management of the mother-baby dyad that are having complex lactating and nursing issues. She will collaborate with pediatric, birth center, Newborn Nursery, Intensive Care Nursery, OB, Family Practice and nursing care teams to develop complete feeding plans.
She will use current lactation theories and research to develop evidenced based feeding plans that address individual feeding issues, while respecting the breastfeeding goals. The lactation consultant will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide continuity of care upon discharge of patients.
