RN, ICU - Telemedicine (experienced)
The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) with a desire to join our premier multidisciplinary team in our new Tele-ICU. Tele-ICU is a form of telemedicine that uses state of the art technology to provide an additional layer of critical care service. Located at the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Tele-ICU (called eCare) helps to maximize clinical expertise and facilitate 24 hour a day care by critical care experts.
University of Maryland eCare nurses remotely monitor critical care patients from a central location. With the use of state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, real-time vital sign data, and sophisticated computer software systems, eCare nurses use their clinical expertise and critical care knowledge to manage populations of critical care patients from a variety of critical care settings. eCare nurses are valued for their ability to apply critical thinking and the most up-to-date best practices to support and promote patient safety and quality clinical outcomes. Proactive surveillance of physiological trends by the eCare nurse ensures an added layer of safety to proactively diminish or prevent a patient crisis.. With the use of skilled communication and true collaboration with patients, families, and health-care providers, eCare nurses working in a tele-ICU can help to transform clinical care.
A shared staffing model, with nurses rotating between eCare, and another critical care unit within the University of Maryland Medical Center is anticipated on a consistent basis.
