Responsibilities

 

Wound Care Staff Nurse works under the supervision of the Wound Care Service Clinical Manager and collaborates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. She/he  will function independently to perform a wide variety of clinical activities with particular emphasis on the therapeutic and preventive care of patients with wounds of various etiologies. Clinical duties will include but are not limited to comprehensive initial patient evaluations; problem-focused and comprehensive subsequent patient evaluations;  limited wound debridement; collaboration with regional VNA¿s regarding patient care;  interfacing with hospital, local and  regional organizations regarding patient and provider education; and assisting the Clinical Manager and Medical Director with practice-guideline and program development.

Qualifications

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Wound and Ostomy certification preferred.  

               

EDUCATION

Bachelor  in Science in Nursing required

 

EXPERIENCE

Three (3) to five (5)  years clinical experience.

 

LICENSURE

RN licensed in CT

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT

Physical stamina is required to meet scheduling requirements.  Ability to handle emergencies and arrive at quick decisions with a minimum of information and supervision is vital.  The  RN is administratively supervised by the Wound Care Service Clinical Manager.  Position requires ability to frequently lift objects less than 20 lbs., perform simple motor and arm-hand steadiness coordination skills; walk, stand, sit and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods; see objects closely and discriminate colors and hear normal sounds and distinguish voice patterns with some background noises.  Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time.  Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts,andremember multiple tasks given over long periods of time, and be able to communicate in written word, using advanced written skills.

 

Mon - Fri, BSN certified in ostomy and wound care.  Position on the inpatient wound team.
